NEW YORK CITY, NY – KIRSTIN’S LOFT – APR.12th, 2002 – FRIDAY

It was 1:30 a.m. when Kirstin was entering her loft.

She placed her bag near the kitchen counter and dropped her keys on it. She collapsed onto her couch.

Kirstin closed her eyes, going through everything that had happened to her in Redding for the 60th time that day. In a matter of three days, she had got engaged and had probably ended the engagement. She just shook her head at her own stupidity. She shouldn’t have done it again. Why would she always kiss someone when she was in another love relationship? She had trouble with commitment. She knew that. But she hadn’t realized how was serious it was until that day. She had lost an incredible fiancée, not to mention, the love of her life, because of her own insecurity problems.

Kirstin was so tired that in 20 minutes, she had fell asleep right there, on her couch.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – HOTEL – APR.12th, 2002 – FRIDAY

Ashley opened the curtains of his room. He looked at the view through his hotel window. He took a deep breath and headed to the bed, collapsing onto it.

After what seemed to have been 30 seconds, he heard a knock on the door.

“God…” he complained, while trailing to the door “What?” he said right after he opened it.

“Jeez, what has gotten into you?” Erik said and entered Ashley’s room, not minding his temper.

“Oh…” Ashley didn’t wanna talk about his and Kirstin’s problem just yet. Mainly because he didn’t know how things were really. He had to figure stuff out, talk to Kirstin… And he had no idea when that would happen. But he wasn’t gonna tell anyone about that until things were solved “Nothing.” He continued ”I’m just tired from the trip. Sorry.” Ashley gave Erik a lame excuse, which Erik bought.

“Oh, I see. So… did you ask her?” Erik sounded excited.

“Ask who what?” Ashley knew exactly what Erik was talking about, but he really didn’t wanna talk about that.

“Duh! Kirstin! Did you ask her to marry you?”

“Yeah.” Ashley sat on the bed.

“She said no.” Erik concluded after hearing Ashley’s tone of voice.

“It’s not that…” Ashley said “She actually said yes.”

“She said yes?” Erik was way too excited.

     “Yes.” Ashley faked a smile.

“Man… that’s… great!” Erik saw just a weak smile appear on Ashley’s face and sensed something was wrong “Or isn’t it?”

“Oh…” Ashley noticed Erik was figuring him out and he did not want that “It is! I’m really excited about the engagement, it’s just that I’m really tired, that’s all. I’m sorry.”

“I understand. Don’t worry, man. But, dude, I’m really happy for you two.” Erik pulled him off the bed and hugged him tight.

     “Thanks, man.”

“Now…” Erik continued after they broke the hug “I’m gonna let you sleep for a while. We just have to go to the studio at 6 p.m. Take a nap.”

     “Ok. Thanks, Erik.”

“No problem, man.” Erik opened the door, but stopped before getting out of the room “Do you mind if I tell the guys about the news or do you want to?”

“Oh… No, you can tell them. That’s alright.”

     “Ok. Bye then.”

“Bye.” Ashley said and collapsed again onto the bed.

NEW YORK CITY, NY – KIRSTIN’S LOFT – APR.12th, 2002 – FRIDAY

Kirstin woke up to the sound of her phone ringing. With her eyes closed, she searched for her phone over the table next to the couch.

“Hello?” she said in a sleepy voice.

     “Kirstin?”

“Yes. Talk, G.” Kirstin said, knowing it was Grace on the other end.

“Hey!!!” Grace exclaimed “Were you sleeping?”

“Yeah… just resting. I took a late flight.”

“But it’s 4 in the afternoon!” Grace informed.

“What?” Kirstin sat up and looked at her wristwatch “Oh, my God!”

     “Lost track of time, huh?”

     “You can say that again.”

“So… I miss you!” Grace exclaimed.

“Aw, I miss you too, sweety.” Kirstin smiled to the phone.

“You’re coming to the party tonight, right?”

“What? Oh!” Kirstin had totally forgotten about Grace’s party for her boyfriend, Mark “I totally forgot.”

“Oh, don’t you dare not go, K! I need you there.” Grace warned.

“Oh, no, I’m going. Don’t worry.” Kirstin felt nothing like partying, but she had to be there for her friend. And she missed Grace. It had been ages since they last saw each other “What time is it again?”

     “At 8.”

     “Where again?”

     “Tom’s place.”

     “Tom’s place?” Kirstin frowned.

“Yeah… well, first, it was gonna be here, because my mom and dad were going away, but now they are only traveling next week, so I was freaking out and Tom offered his place, because his roommate wasn’t gonna be there so…”

     “Oh, ok… Good. Then, 8 o’clock at Tom’s?”

     “Yes. Be there!” Grace exclaimed.

“I will. Then we can talk better.”

“Yeah… we do have to talk. To catch up.”

     “Yeah, we do.”

“Ok, K, let me go because I still have so much stuff to do for the party. But we’ll talk later, alright?”

     “Alright. See ya.” Kirstin said.

     “See ya. Bye.”

Kirstin hung up the phone and stared at it for a while. Yeah, maybe she was doing the right thing going to the party. She was gonna free her mind of the past few days' problems and enjoy her friends' company. Tom would be there. Grace would be there. It was gonna be good for her.

She got off of the couch and headed to the shower. Suddenly, she was feeling somewhat better.
