~*~ Chapter 30: Tomorrow ~*~
“Ry, you gotta help me, man.” Seth burst into the pool house and realized Ryan wasn’t anywhere in sight “Ryan?” he searched for his friend in the room.
“What?” Ryan showed up from the bathroom with a sleepy face on.
“Were you sleeping, man?” Seth asked, surprised.
“That’s what I usually do around midnight.” Ryan collapsed onto his bed.
“Midnight?” Seth asked surprised and looked at his wristwatch.
“Fifteen after midnight, actually.” Ryan sounded annoyed.
“Wow…”
“What happened? Where were you and what were you doing that you have no idea what time it is?” Ryan frowned.
“That’s the problem. We gotta talk.”
“Oh, God, Seth! It’s fifteen after midnight! Tomorrow we have school! Can’t we do this in the morning?” Ryan put his head under his pillow.
“No, no, no, no! Ryan, wake up. My life depends on it.”
“Is that suppose to make me wanna talk to you? If it is, I’m telling you it’s not working.”
“Ryan, come on! How many times did I listen to your complains about Marissa? Millions of times!” Seth rolled his eyes.
“Once or twice, actually.” Ryan answered and Seth thought for a second.
“I think you’re right. But what about your Theresa problems?”
“Again, once or twice.” Seth thought again.
“Ok, that doesn’t mean anything. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about you!”
“No, it means I can take care of my own problems, and you should learn to take care of your own, too. Now, let me sleep.”
“Ryan, no!” Seth practically screamed.
“Oh, God, alright.” Ryan sat up, seeing he wouldn’t be able to sleep unless he’d let Seth talk “Shoot.”
“It’s Brandi.”
“No! Really?” Ryan pretended to be shocked and rolled his eyes.
“Ha-ha. Ok. So…” Seth took a deep breath and continued “I love her.”
“No! Really?” Ryan joked again, not understanding what was new.
“What?” Seth frowned “You knew?”
“Of course, Seth.” Ryan took the glass water from his nightstand and took a sip.
“But… How did you know?” Seth kept the frown on.
“It’s obvious, Seth. You couldn’t stop talking about her, you wanted to tell her stuff, you wanted to be near her all the time. Of course you were starting to fall for her.”
“But… it’s only been a week! How could I have been falling for her if I have known her for a week?” Seth couldn’t understand how it could happen and how it could be so obvious to Ryan.
“Seth, you just do. I know a week is really a short time, but… you can’t really tell your heart what it can and what it cannot do.” Ryan frowned as soon as he let the phrase out. He was being to much of a philosopher, something he never thought he’d be.
“I guess…” Seth nodded slowly.
“So… what are you gonna do about it?”
“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about. What do you think I should do about it? What would be best? Better… what would be wiser?”
“I think you should really talk to her. Because I think she’s feeling something for you, too. I might be…”
“What? You think she’s falling for me aswell?”
“I didn’t say that. I say that I think she does. But you’re gonna have to talk to her.”
“How? I mean… how do I approach her to tell her something like this?”
“I don’t know. Didn’t you go through the same with Summer?”
“No… Summer actually attacked me with her lips during Thanksgiving.”
“Oh, yeah, that.”
“You know how irresistible I can be sometimes.”
“Yeah, sure.” Ryan mocked his friend, but Seth didn’t pick up on that.
“So?”
“So what?” Ryan frowned.
“What do I do?”
“I don’t know, Seth. I’ve never been through something like that, telling a girl you have feelings for her. But I guess you should just spit it out.”
“Don’t you think I should ask her on a date first and then tell her?”
“Hm…” Ryan thought for a second “Maybe…” he kept thinking “Actually, I don’t think you should.”
“Why? Why not?”
“I think you’ve missed that chance already. I think it’s not the time to ask her out anymore. I think that time has passed. Maybe now, you should just wait for the right moment to tell her, and the right moment would be as soon as you two are together in a room.”
“You really think so?”
“I do. I really do. She probably already knows you like her. Woman can sense those things. So, I’m guessing she’s now just waiting for you to tell her that.”
“I see… maybe you are right.”
“I hope I am, anyway.” Ryan wasn’t so sure about himself. He had never been through such a thing, so he actually didn’t know how to advise Seth in a moment like that.
“So, you think I should try and find her now?”
“No!” Ryan exclaimed “Absolutely not. You gotta give her some time to cool her head off. Tomorrow, when you see her in school, you go and talk to her.”
“Ok...” Seth nodded, but he looked absentminded.
“Ok? Seth, ok?” Ryan asked to reassure himself.
“Ok, ok, Ryan. I’ll talk to her tomorrow. Got it.”
“Then what are you thinking about?”
“About what I’m gonna say to her tomorrow.”
“Ok. Now, you can do that in your room, right?”
“Are you throwing me out, Ryan?”
“No, Seth, I’m not. I’m kindly asking you to leave my room.”
“Really, Ryan, you have to start treating me more like a brother.”
“Yeah, because I don’t do that already. No, just close the door when you leave, will you?”
“Ok, Ryan, but when…” Seth said going for the door.
“Goodnight, Seth!” Ryan interrupted and Seth got out of the room, closing the door behind him.
When he entered his room, Seth collapsed onto the bed. He got Captain Oats from his nightstand and looked at his plastic friend.
“Tomorrow.” he said looking at the toy “Tomorrow I’ll tell Brandi all about it.”
