Chapter 45
"Nick," Brian laughed, "You are so not here."
"What? Oh sorry." Nick looked down at the notebook he was
supposed to be writing lyrics in. All he saw was scribbles. "My
mind is somewhere else."
"What you thinking about?" Howie said as he sat down
beside Nick.
"I want to go somewhere, like a vacation."
"You mean you and Elizabeth?" Brian asked then look a
drink of his soda.
"Yeah, after the whole hospital thing," Nick looked down his
voice showing his emotion, "I just want it to be us. No Aj no
lawyers nothing. I talked to the lawyer today and the judge
finally agreed to move the court date back because Liz got sick.
So we have like 3 weeks. And I'd love to go somewhere and
forget it all for a while."
"Well, go talk to Kevin, you know how he gets this close to
the end of the album," Brian said rolling his eyes and grinning,
"Then go to the travel agency. Leighanne and I used the one on
Walnut."
"Where do you think we should go?"
"Bora Bora." Howie said with a smile. Brian and Nick both
laughed at his dreamy look.
"Okay, I think I want what he has." Nick said grinning. "I'm
going to talk to Kevin." He started walking toward the studio
doors.
"Kevin I need to talk to you." Nick said as he sat down in
the empty studio.
"What?" he was preoccupied and Nick knew now wasn't a
good time to ask but he had to.
"I need a few days off."
"Oh no, we are just weeks from finishing this album. We
need you here to do this." Kevin said looking up from the sound
board.
"Kevin I'm not asking for a week, I'm saying like 4 days."
Nick turned up the whine in his voice knowing it would get on
Kevin's nerves.
"Nick that whine isn't going to always work."
"Doesn't matter as long as it works this time." He said
grinning at the older man, he knew he had won.
"Fine, but your ass is mine any time I need you when you
get back."
"Yes! You got it." Nick said jumping up from his chair and
heading out the door.
