Getting Started
If you know nothing about Dungeons & Dragons, a Role Playing Game, then you won't have a good idea what this website is about. I suggest you find a friend who plays the game and borrow the "Player's Handbook" from him/her.

Amristar is a campaign setting for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D). It is similar to the standard D&D world with a few differences for originality, personal preference, and balance. If you know the standard D&D world and rules, then you should have no trouble getting into a game quickly.

The campaign itself is played on our forums. For those of you unfamiliar with this, it simply a way to play normal D&D over the internet. Though it is slow paced, it is uncontested as the best way to play the game. Integration of media (pictures, HTML, music files) help to make it an immersing experience. You write on the forums during your game as you would from a thrid person perspective, with a bit of eloquence, to make the game seem like a real story. An example of what you might see:

Player:
"Ishkar quickly places herself between the bugbear and her wounded friend. "Back off, beast, or you'll breathe your last!" She takes a swipe with her rapier.

(ToHit Roll 15+5 Attack Bonus + 2 Enchantment = 22 To Hit. Damage Roll 5 + 2 Enchantment + 2 Strength + 3 fire = 9 Damage, 3 Fire Damage)"

DM:
"Ishkar's rapier slices into the bugbear's tough hide, and it reels from the pain with a grunt. Undeterred, it flails at her with it's club.

(ToHit Roll 9+6 Attack Bonus = 15 To Hit (Beats Ishkar's AC). Damage Roll 6 + 4 Strength = 10 Damage)

It's swing connects, cracking Ishkar across the arm."

Here's how you get things rolling. First, you should read up on all of the resources we have on our site. Then make your own character at home, converting the sheet into a text file. Guidelines for this can be found elsewhere on our Newcomers section. Join our forums, find an open game (you can see the open games by reading stickies and such in the forum), post your character with an explanation, and you're good to go!
