Michi got a very pretty, young female teacher. Daniela is her name. Michi was very fond of her, well.. I should say he's got good taste! He must've inherited this from Papa.
While I had 3 teachers in 4 days. No.. I wasn't being difficult and was not too stupid, either. I just turned up at the wrong time for a fresh beginner. First they gave me Herman (not Herman Maier) who taught me for some 45 minutes. Then he had to return to his class (a group of young kids, around Michi's age) so they gave me Uli, an Italian who lives at the Italian/Austrian border some 5 minutes from Nauders (he's quite a good looking young chap, I thought Revi would like him if she was there. This time Revi stayed in Vienna as she had her exams to attend). Uli remained my teacher for one and a half day. On the 3rd day they decided I could join the group that went up to the mountain (I started at Michi's ground then they took me to a bigger slope on the 2nd day), so I joined Guenther's class, where I remained for the rest of my learning time. On the 5th day I could join another group (Guenther's class ended the day before), but I thought to have 4 teachers in less than a week would be a bit too much for me so I decided to finish my ski course. I then skied with Wilfried, Anneloes, Anita, Kees, Richard & Rianne, they belong to my Dutch connections, except Wilfried of course. While we skied Tante Geek & Oom Henri had their walks, they came up to the Berg Stall to join us on our lunch break. On the 6th day, Roeland and Ilya came to join the group, they completed the big group on our evening rituals: playing mau2!
I enjoyed skiing and Michi did the same. On the 6th day we took Michi up to the mountain, also to the highest ski point (more than 2200m). He wasn't afraid to go all the way up there and skied down.... poor Wilfried had to work hard though, looking after son and wife who are fresh beginners! Surely Michi was doing better than mom. Well, I don't have Austrian blood in me, he does!
On this last day, we were the very last ones to leave the mountain. Michi was so exhausted that he was fast asleep the minute we stepped into the Cable-car. While I was still thinking about asking the experts to invent better ski boots! |
