| In a graceful neighborhood called Silverlake, in Los Angeles, California, a once proud Harvard Grad and teacher lay slowly dying of AIDS. The worse he became with the illness, the more his family took away from him for being Gay. Ultimately his partner of eight years, (me) was driven from our home, a visiting nurse put in place with instructions to let the family know when John dies. My concern was how would John eat well without me; that concern was covered by Project Angel Food. The project delivered three meals a day with love and care. I promised John on his deathbed, that I would do something about our situation of not being legally married or partnered, as well as supporting future generations who should not have to suffer the indigites that we did. Hence, Civillywedd.com was created by me as the struggle goes on with progressive intent for all L.G.B.T. people who plan to marry, form a civil-union or civil or domestic partnership. Our love for each other was not enough to withstand the pressure of a family intent on seizing literally everything that we owned without legal protection.
