I am willing to get a position as a CFD engineer or any other position involving HVAC systemas and aerodynamics.

I first became interested in CFD and airflow analysis through General Motors. I was working at the HVAC PTC area as a Design Engineer for 2 years (Full time). In this position I was responsible for designing and validating air conditioning systems, side window and windshield defoggers, intake systems, flow through radiators, etc. Air flow over and under hood were studied in order to improve its performance by body/part shaping.

In General Motors I received training on several computer programs, Unigraphics for the modeling of the parts, Hypermesh for the surface meshing, TGRID to create volume meshes and finally Fluent. Most of the analysis methods I used were utilizing the segregated solver along with the k-epsilon turbulence model.

I left General Motors on July 2002 after accepting an offer from the University of Leeds, where I am studying a MSc in Automotive Engineering, with their program Ive been able to lead my master degree into aerodynamics and CFD analysis given that my research project is to improve the performance of the Formula SAE race car of the university of Leeds. In order to achieve that improvement I am running simulations of the full body with the rotating wheels effect (open wheel car).

Body shaping, air deflectors and ground clearance are under study with the aim of reducing drag and dealing with lift and pitching moment. I have also been interested in comparing the k-epsilon turbulence model and the Spalart-Almaras model, so I am running two analyses.

During this Research project I had the chance to improve my skills in grid generation by learning GAMBIT, understand more about turbulence models, aerodynamic resistances and how the airflow varies over the exterior of a given vehicle as well as the relation between the flow regimes and the generation of lift and drag.

I hope that, on consideration to my CV, you will be persuaded of my potential to give an excellent performance and contribute to your company.

Yours sincerely,

Arturo Guzman
