| How to make Nylon Salt: - one molale part of hexamethylene diamene (NH2 (CH2)6 NH2) - one molale part of adipic acid (HOOC(CH2)4COOH) - stir in deionized water at 70 degrees celcius - precipitate the nylon salt from solution |
||||||||||||
| How to make Nylon Polymer: - evaporate nylon salt to 80% salt and drop into autoclave - add acetic acid and TioO2 - autoclave to 295 degrees celcius and 250 psi - at 250 the instantaneous polymerization occurs resulting in a polymer of 15,000 to 18,000 desired molecular weight - H2O is bled off quick to 0 psi over a 30 minute period - keep autoclave to 0 psi for 30 minutes to settle molten polymer - extrude nylon over a roll sprayed with water - cut nylon riddon into strips - blend patch with 5 other ones to obtain average molecular weight |
