I wake from
my sleep and
face the day
but I have the
hope to reach
you some day.

I cannot go on
to climb these
steps because
my way's not
easy to go!

Keywords, Part 1

Here are the first words you are going to learn in Japanese. They are involved with introduction and leaving as is most of this lesson.

Hello - konnichiwa
Goodbye - sayounara
I am... - ...desu
Mr/Mrs/Ms - -san

Using the keywords

It's rather simple to introduce yourself in Japanese. All you need to do is say your name then desu.
Examples:
Kurisuten desu. - I am Kristen.
Akiko desu. - I am Akiko.

This doesn't change even with gender or the number of people. It can mean He/She is, They are...etc.

When addressing someone you don't know very well then you would add -san to the end of their names. San is basically the English equivalent of Mr., Mrs., or Ms. Never use it on your own name! It would sound really funny! Remember to translate what you say, and see if it sounds right. It helps you catch mistakes.
