:5GJW, who once could speak the forgotten language of edlin,

Edlin was part of Dos 1.0. Yes, DOS 1.0! I know! I had that version of DOS on my first IBM PC! I migrated from CP/M to IBM DOS in 1982. Both of these operating systems are a small sub-set of Unix as every card-carrying nerd knows.
The kewl thing about CP/M was that the whole dang operating system only occupied 5.7K of TPA! CP/M made the desktop computer possible for every home.

CP/M: in charge of an 8-bit Z80 chip with 64K of memory and formally known "Control Process Monitor", which is a really goofy and fancy name for what we call an "Operating System" today!

My first computer had a 4-bit chip and I still thought I was in heaven.

Doug, who wonders why he is now imitating 5thGenerationJehovah'sWitness with these silly little asides at the end of a perfectly good post

:)
