I like you as well, Jan. I know even when we are sarcastic with each other it is nothing personal.
Glaciers?
I don't see what that has to do with any flood that ancients believed encompassed the whole earth.
Who said they did not
exist nor influence Geography? Tell me, oh great intellectual, why does an ice age ever end?
Did the earth face some catastrophy that caused the whole planet to go from hothouse to deep freeze? If it was just the meteor strike in the
Gulf of California, why did not the earth return to pre-meteor conditions? Is it not possible that the "terminal event" shifted our earth's rotation?
Now, on this premise, what happened in 3313 b.c.e. that changed the earth's moon
distance and speed of rotation and ultimately the earth's year?
Shades of "Worlds in Collision", Velikovsky's book which ties together numerous, seemingly unrelated events into a plausible theory. You forget that he accurately predicted
the composition of Venus' atmosphere and temperature, confirmed by space probes in the '60s.
You don't believe the ancient calendar shift from 291.2 days a year to 365? It CAN'T have happened?
Thousands of laborers at 12,500 feet placed 100-200 ton blocks so close as to be practically seamless. Then they built a immense stairway 2500 feet higher. Not enough food grown at that height. Bitter water lake with ocean inhabiting creatures. Humanity does things the easy way. It makes less sense that this city was built at this height by the Incas than the sea level site rising in a vast tectonic upheaval!
None of what you or anyone else has said here prohibits the myth that an ancient culture had a few survivors of what they thought was a world-wide flood. Ah, but even that is not allowed, is it? Never mind that non-existent (according to science) places like Jericho are discovered. All the facts are in, eh?
So, ALL of the ancient
cultures are TOTALLY WRONG and Jan, AF are TOTALLY RIGHT. Native Americans, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Semites, Persians, Chinese, Polynesian, Australian Aborigines, Eithiopians, Hawaiians....and whoever else, all totally wrong.
Jan and
AF tell us all who are 'reputable scientists' and who are 'pseudo-scientists'. It just seems to be based on your assumption as always being right.
