I'm a 32 year (minus a recent few years hiatus) resident of San Diego, but I did live in the L.A. area for 5 years before that.
I played beach volleyball in Santa Monica about a hundred years ago. Met Sinjun Smith and Randy Stoklos there. (Also talked to them in Hawaii as well as a numerous times they played in San Diego)
Santa Monica is a good 40-50 miles south of Carpenteria/Ventura, BTW.
