Covert,
: What I found amusing is that contrary to the chagrin of Mr. Wyatt, the Bible clearly states that the Ark's final resting place was Mt. Ararat according to Genesis 8:4.
: "And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat." (AV)
Actually, this isn't correct.
It's hard to see from the text, but the plural of mountains is a clue. At the time this text was written, some centuries BC, Ararat was not the name of one individual mountain, but a larger region. In this region we find a number of mountains, the tallest of which is now called Mt. Ararat.
Mr Wyatt may indeed be correct that this particular mountain where he claims a
rock formation is really the ark would be one of the "mountains of Ararat".
