It's all a matter of upbringing, culture, and
mindset.
I never get upset about people saying that the
Bible upholds slavery for example.In those days
life was short and brutal- if you weren't part
of a clan you could be raped, murdered,tortured,
or just starve to death - being a slave might
be a matter of survival and it's understandable
that some people willingly stayed in slavery
(as the Law seems to infer)
All the above applies as well to marriage - a
matter of survival not to be judged by 20th
century standards. Also some women prefer
sharing a husband - an intelligent professional
woman involved in a Mormon sect said " I want
a husband sometimes, but I don't want him around
all the time!"
