Hello Practicus,

As I see it, where the personal choice comes in is deciding whether or not one will be a Christian in the first place, or more specifically, to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, knowing full well in advance of baptism that we do not take blood transfusions.

As you know, that's not quite true. When studying to become a JW, the organisation's policy on blood is not fully dealt with. Most of what the watchtower teach is taken on face value - we believe them because we are told they are speaking for Jehovah God? We are taught not to question or argue them.

I know more now, about the blood policy held by the Jw organisation than ever, and I was a witness for 20 years. Oh yes, I can hear you saying that it is my own fault for not investigating it, but the resources to do this were not there. The watchtower's slant on the blood policy is very misleading, therefore, because of many deaths that have ocurred due to this teaching, the watchtower organisation should be held responsible for mass murder.

Like Nicodemus, we ALL struggle from time to time, with our beliefs, what we've been taught and so on. However, it is our God given conscience that should determine right and wrong - together with bible understanding and prayer. It is not any man's job to be a conscience for another person, that includes the watchtower organisation.
Christian Love Rosetta
