I am not a proponent of "big government," but the reason JWs are so controversial is because they are not forthright and honest with prospective members. What JW Bible study is thoroughly informed regarding the logistics of unbending submission to the Slave after baptism? They aren't. We've had several people who were either baptized or approached baptism and when learning that the WTS is indeed not the sole possessor of truth, they wish they never had anything to do with Jehovah's Witnesses.
The whole issue all boils down to shunning the dissenter who conscientiously disagrees and the establishment of a group-think type of mentality in the organization. Jehovah's Witness apologists simply are not honest when dealing with these facts, both to the outside world and to prospective converts. They skirt the issue and claim that "no one is forced to become one of Jehovah's Witnesses," or "no one is forced to abstain from blood -- it is their choice," or "no one ever said serving Jehovah and Jesus would be easy."
Informed persons know that those are weasel words designed to mask the errors promulgated, practiced and taught as truth by
Jehovah's Witnesses.
