WW,
You seem intent on finding some ancient catostrophic event resulting in mass extinction of species.
Are you familiar with the asteroid impact theory?
It appears to be widely accepted in the scientific community and there IS
evidence, (satelite observation) of a giant crater in the gulf basin off the Yucatan peninsula.
Calculations based on the size of the crater indicate that drastic climatic changes and extinctions would result from such an
impact.
Perhaps this could explain some of the local flood stories found throughout the world. Immense tidal waves would indeed be created if it hit the ocean.
There is solid evidence that the earth has been hit by several large asteroids in the past and WILL be hit again at some time in the future.
Since evidence of the biblical flood has, (at least IMO) been debunked, why not try another approach?
