H2O has accepted a volunteer as its first Forum Director 1 (FD1). The number of directors on our site who act in this capacity will vary depending upon the number of regular participants.
What are the responsibilities of Forum Director?
I thank in advance Forum Director 1 for posting a new topic distilling the responsibilities of Forum Director based on my email and their own experiences and knowledge. Look for this new topic soon.
What is your understanding of H2O's purpose, Rick?
Our world is in moral chaos, and those who have read and believed in the Bible want to share with others the hope of better times ahead. Our purpose, as one brother aptly described a while ago which I agree with, is to help steer a great ship carrying people on an important mission from slamming into the cliffs killing all aboard. There are many ships representing many churches who want to help the world, but this one has run into serious trouble. Remember how Christ described the body with many functions? Just like in disasters some are doctors and others are rescue workers, there are many who can only offer to hold the hands and console others. The purpose of this organization is to send out evangelists to tell the world that there is hope, that even in a worst case scenario of all out nuclear war we will triumph. That the reason we have hope of a better world regardless of our mistakes and imperfections is because God really does exist, and he cares. I apologize for waxing philosophical but whether you accept it or not, this is what I believe.
Putting it another way, you all should already understand we're blazing a trail through the internet labrinth or wilderness in our ongoing endeavor to engineer and build this outpost.
The purpose of H2O remains for the benefit of Jehovah's Witnesses worldwide in a most unique way: Through the collective brainstorming of potential organizational reform possibilities through respectful discussions, and the spontaneous ideas generated from "stream of thought" postings, and the lessons learned from difficult truths revealed from even our harshest critics. That we all can learn that Jesus fed the masses with literal food, not just spiritual food.
If we believe this is Jehovah's organization then we must accept ongoing change. The interface between a perfect God and any human endeavors is going to take patience, faith, willingness to admit mistakes, and determined effort in moving toward the goal of triumph. According to the Bible, the triumphant goal is to vindicate God and prove a liar his adversary.
The early Christian churches didn't believe they had to be perfect to accomplish the goal of glorifying God and vindicating his great Name. They fed the masses not only with truth, but with food, because that is the example Jesus set for true Christians. Until we at least get this part right, can we with clean consciences call ourselves "true Christians"? Those who established H2O dare to believe that someday, we shall.
Thank you in advance, brother and new H2O Forum Director 1, for giving yourself to others through your efforts to assist H2O in directing our moderators and forum policies.
