Hi tsubadub,
: I remember reading a historical article quoting several watchtowers on how the albumin is allowed nowadays. It emphasized how the society was trying to get the message through that albumin is an allowed component.
Unfortunately I could not find the article at LE's or Jan's site. Was it posted here or is it available someplace?

I found these articles. Hope it helps.

"1994
The October 1st Watchtower has a Question from Readers about the acceptability of Albumin. (a constituent of
plasma) The answer says that acceptance is a "private decision" (no change) It adds that "many Witnesses have not objected to accepting injections containing small amounts of albumin, e.g.. EPO [erythropoietin] which can hasten red
cell production". No definition of "small amount" is offered."

"Do Jehovah's Witnesses accept injections
of a blood fraction, such as immune globulin or albumin?
Some do, believing that the Scriptures do not clearly rule out accepting an injection of a small fraction, or component, taken from blood." (The Watchtower, June 1, 1990,
p. 30)

"The Watchtower, October 1, 1994, page 31
Would it be proper to accept a vaccination or some other
medical injection containing albumin derived from human blood?"

"However, Witnesses' religious understanding does
not absolutely prohibit the use of components such as albumin, immune globulins, and hemo-philiac preparations; each Witness must decide individually if he can accept these.2" (How Can Blood Save Your Life? p. 27)
http://www.freeminds.org/doctrine/blood.htm
"Witnesses view [the scriptures] as ruling out transfusion of whole blood, packed RBCs, and plasma, as well as WBC and platelet
administration. However, Witness religious understanding does not absolutely prohibit the use of components such as albumin, immune globulins, and hemophiliac preparations; each Witness must decide individually if he can accept
these.
Witnesses believe that blood removed from the body should be disposed of, so they do not accept autotransfusion of pre-deposited blood. (Awake!, 6/22/82, p. 25)"
