Yes, in 1979 it was a 500% markup on the magazines. In 1979 they cost 5 cents to print and were sold for 25 cents.
With modern printing methods, the markup could even be higher today.
Since it takes 3000 hours of field service to make one convert, one has to wonder why FS is emphasized so much. It certainly is inefficient.
When one realized the profit to be made from selling/getting donations for literature, one can see why there is so much pressure to go out in field service.
