Dear A.J.W.,
Joseph is absolutely correct on this issue of Jesus actually eating the Passover on Nisan 15th and not on Nisan 14th.
But just for critical historical detail, you can look up information in the Encyclopaedia Britannica under "Jesus" and it will tell you quite bluntly that the synoptic gospels clearly present Jesus eating the actual Passover meal at the normal time the Jews do, which is on the 15th (since the Jews left Egypt on the 15th - Numbers 33:3) and that that is in direct contradiction with John which says Jesus died on the day of "preparation for Passover." Of course, the phrase and reference to "preparation for Passover" can be extended to Nisan 20th which was also "preparation for passover" since "passover" was a term that could refer to any event during the entire week of the festival.
But since you are so up on this, and we are so wrong, perhaps you can lend us an explanation of Luke 22:7 which says: "The day of unfermented cakes arrived, on which the passover victim must be sacrificed, and he dispatched Peter and John..." to prepare.
Also, could you comment specifically on the time you believe the lambs were actually killed. Josephus clearly indicates they were killed AT THE TEMPLE from the "ninth to the eleventh" hours. Do you accept this?
The WTS says the lambs were killed after sundown. So that's one historical conflict.
The WTS says Jesus sent his disciples out on Nisan 13th instead of Nisan 14th, which is another conflict since the lambs must be sacrificed on Nisan 14th.
So how are you dealing with these Biblical issues?
Most witnesses I talk to run away screaming when confronted with this information. Maybe you can explain how you personally are dealing with this.
Thanks,
Gary
