Feeling better is not the point. Particular words are not the point. You have encouraged usage that is bashing and confrontational toward Jan. Please desist.

I see. I thought you were outraged at my use of the word 'asshole'.

I cannot read JaneyJJJ's mind, but after reading her posts, it appears to me that she is waging a personal vendetta against Jan. My intent was to encourage her to explore her motivation for posting. Does she really care about the correct pronunciation of 'Jesus' and the divine name? Or is she on a mission to expose Jan Haugland and prove him wrong? If she is out to expose Jan Haugland -- why? If she doesn't like Jan Haugland, why euphemistically hide that fact behind a pretense at scholarly debate?

Confrontation is good. It helps us dig down to the truth about ourselves and others. Personally, I welcome it in my life, even if at times it is painful. It clears the air. Of course, there is a time and place for everything, but expressing ourselves truthfully is much better than putting on a fake smile and bottling things up inside.

If I am correct, and if JaneyJJJ just doesn't like Jan, I think it would be very healthy for her to simply accept that truth. If she chose to express it here on this board, who could argue with her feelings? She feels what she feels, and that is that. And although the moderators might not approve of such "bashing," I think even Jan himself could deal with a direct "I don't like you" better than her current methods of expression.

I consider Jan a friend. He knows that sometimes he acts like a contumacious heap of parrot droppings, and he doesn't mind being told so. I need to go boil my bum sometimes myself, and I appreciate it when people are honest enough to tell me so.

All of this is beside the point, though. JaneyJJJ still has not answered the questions from the original post, and I am still waiting for the address of her famous web site, on which she will be free to do all the Jan-bashing she wishes. I'd just like to know why she is provoked by Jan. If Jan's arguments were truly inconsequential, JaneyJJJ would feel indifference rather than dislike or anger. Something Jan has said or written has provoked strong feelings in JaneyJJJ, and enquiring minds want to know why.

Ginny
