I thought of that - I actually spoke to my family members (two elders) and mentioned my view and they agreed wholeheartedly.
Their view was that it actually detracted from the talk, which I agree with.
The guy is from the local branch, an ex-CO (close friends with my younger brother who will probably be a CO soon too).
I'm still trying to think through the implications ....
