"...How can someone who made statements like this be taken seriously by anyone? And yet, I did...."

Most of us did. I believed 110% that I would never be an adult (over 25) in this System. I would have, at one time, staked my life on it--literally.

We believed it because we were taught it from the time we could crawl. No matter how ludicrous it sounds to someone else, if you've been conditioned to it, then it sounds perfectly logical.

I've always thought it ironic, that, Charles Russell actually had one prophecy right---and then Brother Rutherford went and demolished it. Russell fortold in one of his "Studies in the Scriptures" (I still have 3 of them--they were my great-grandfathers) back in either the late nineteenth or early twentieth century, that the nation of Isreal would one day return to their homeland. Rutherford, in his apparent dislike of Jews, did away with this in the 1920s. Too bad, because for once, Russell was right.
