I hope you are teasing me!

:)

The fundamentalists from whom the society borrowed this "CANOPY" idea do ***not*** usually assert a
"miraculous" reason for it's existence.

No, they maintain it was part of the original creation of preFlood Nature and WOULD NOT HAVE "COLLAPSED" had not man's sins provoked God into bringing about that "collapse."

Moreover, have you read some of what those guys write?

They posit that a GIGANTIC meteor, MILEs and MILES in width, came hurtling through space and STRUCK that canopy, hurtling through to the earth (some of them even try to point to the Yucatan crater as evidence of this), causing all the upheavals------
volcanic, tectonic, etc.------which they insist ALSO accompanied the flood (but which the Noah account does not mention, saying only that it
"rained for forty days and forty nights").

The water canopy is absolutely necessary to the Young Earth Position, together with upheavals, volcanic activity, etc., occuring simultaneously barely 4,000 years ago.

I fully agree that God can bring about a devastating flood through miraculous means.
I believe that he DID bring about a flood against a wicked society thousands of years back, but I do not take every point of the story ***absolutely*** literally, nor do I believe I need to in order to maintain my belief in Divine Inspiration of the Scriptures.

AF is not attempting to "ANALYZE ANYTHING" on wild guesses of his own. He is simply taking the
scenario put forth by the YECs, as THEY explain it, and subjecting it to research.

It is THEIR explanations he has examined, not the notion of floods per se.

And he has done quite a convincing job of proving that the YEC/Flood Canopy/Global Flood 4,000 Years ago scenario is not possible WITHOUT numerous miraculous inventions.

With regard to the Resurrection, I DO believe in that! And I DO believe it was miraculous.
It is the very nature of a miracle to be "OUT" of the ORDINARY.

The YECs place the Water Canopy in the realm of the ORDINARY. And they have tried to show that it is ***scientifically*** provable. Thereby they have stepped OFF the ground of sincere religious belief and ONTO the ground of claims which can be tested scientifically. It is the YECs, NOT THE SCIENTISTS, who started the fight claiming that they had a ***SCIENTIFIC*** explanation for both a YOUNG EARTH and a RECENT GLOBAL FLOOD.

Regards,
Jaypeeto :)
