To be fair Friend it would not take a declaration of bankruptcy to defraud a brother.

If I owed you $1000 for consulting services and didn't pay you for 30, then 60 then 90 days what are your options as my brother?

At best you could take it to the elders who if they believed you would tell me I should pay you. I might even lose privileges if I didn't. However you could not sue me for the money personally while I remain your brother. SO either you pray that I get DF'ed or you take the loss.

Every congregation I have served in there have been business difficulties between borhters. I personally have been defrauded several times but simply took the loss because "they are my brothers"

So while the majority are honest people there can be a tendancy to rationalize "I can pay him last because he is a brother and will understand, the bank won't.

Thoughts?

J
