I have seen it referred to as "the memorial" part of the Mass by early Christian writers, though officially it is part of the "Consecretion".
As to why does the WT have it's own rendition of this event, and what they call it, I have been kicking around a theory, I'd like opiinions.
I suspect some of the founders of the WT took great pains to have their doctrine much unlike anyone or anything else as a small insurance of persecution thus "proving" they are The
Ones.
