I thought it was funny because I know someone who fits the description. Though to defuse any misunderstanding, I'm sure we all know people who've been hit over the head with the ugly stick, but we love them to death and find them very attractive individuals. As I understood it, Mary was making a statement about some of the uglier personalities (sisters) in her congregation. Someone as perceptive as Mary would never judge on appearences. I revel in the fact that the sister I know who is ugly all the way to the bone, is also short fat and ugly in appearence. :o)
So, is Rick Australian???
