Superstition can really screw up a person's thinking ability.
Think about it. A supposed "worshipper of God's great enemy" tells people that basically JW's are God's chosen people. Yeah, right. Why would a "worker of darkness" want to point people to the light? Would it not make more sense in this scenario that the "demon worshipper" was trying to ensnare people into a demon worshipping cult?
Of course, this kind of superstitious illogic was used quite effectively by Judge Rutherford when he spoke of demons proclaiming that 1925 would bring the end of the world.
And, of course, you see this illogic in the accounts of demon possessed people proclaiming that Peter (or was it Paul) was God's messenger. Yeah, that makes complete sense. A demon telling people who they should follow...
(Sometimes I feel that most people are a lost cause because they can barely think themselves out of a paper bag.)
