Hi Rick,

I was going to comment on where the US economy's going but given that I'm looking for USDms equity on NASDAQ I'll shut up and hope that M14 does too (that was a joke).

Nonetheless I'm pleased that M14 was not taking issue with your comment:
"Ideally, H2O Moderators will become "world class" in their experiences over time, to where they refine their approach to warnings and deletions."

We really do appreciate his interests in continual improvement in aspiring to "best practice" moderation, and encourage him to use his experience in Norway to best advantage. In addition, should he get opportunity he is welcome "down-under" any time - at least one fellow moderator is willing to open home. This would give him the opportunity to realise the truth of your words:

"They may discover different cultures who appear to them as vulgar or attacking are acting within perfectly acceptable boundaries for Jehovah's Witnesses in certain countries."

BTW - do you know something I don't know? Has M14 told you that we Aussies (I assume it is not the cultured Norwegians to which you are refering) are "vulgar or attacking"?

Anyway, you really strayed into the use of direct language (see that Aussie influence IS rubbing off !):

"H2O is an internatnal board originating from Australia but available to all English speaking JWs and other internet ones worldwide, so moderators cannot only gage their actions on their local customs."

But this one really took the cake:

"Visitors need to understand, nevertheless, that H2O Moderators often have only their local culture to use as a baseline for acceptable conduct, and should respectfully explain to Moderators why their actions might not be relevant in another culture."

You really make it sound like we can expect some sort of respectful dialogue. Every attempt to do just that (reference the practicus post example) is met with the Z&Z - ie. ZAPPER (deletion) and ZIPPER (mouth).

So, finally, let me encourage M14 to put away the ZAPPER and open the ZIPPER. With ZAPPER away, perhaps he might be more inclined to contribute to the content of the board, and to provide meaningful discussion about his concerns which would prevent his ill-informed and hasty actions.

Love,
Andrew.
