You can't "explain" languages logically, Rick. There is only one thing to do with living languages: ask a native. I'm authoritative when it comes to Norwegian language, as you are in English.
Since the last person who spoke (and wrote) Koine Greek died for something like 1500 years ago, that is pretty difficult. The second best thing is to consult current experts who have studied documents for a living for many years. And no person who even slept through one lesson a first-term course in Greek even considered in his dreams to pronounce "Iesous" with three syllables. Nobody with any knowledge whatsoever of linguistics and phonetics will take the mere idea seriously. All it takes is to turn on your brain and try to think a bit logically about the sounds in question.
And since some knowledge in phonetics will be necessary to understand my explanation (much harder than the intuitive understanding any sane person should have!) of this topic (posted a number of times already!!!), it's basically a chicken-and-egg problem here: Nobody who understands the argument will need to have it presented.
RealJW has already posted references. So why do you need be to do the same?
The funny thing is that this was just a snide comment about Stafford's claim from his book, and is not at all relevant to the debate about how YHWH was pronounced.
