Debating is a multifaceted art comprised of three traditional styles:
The second of these three styles is appropriate for debating on the issues pertaining to Greek grammar, interpretive issues in the Bible, evolution and Bible history. According to the information provided at one of the most prestigious debating organizations, Soros (at www.soros.org/debate/),
"Policy Debate focuses on the practical implementation of these positions. Example: Government should provide public works jobs for the unemployed; Government should ban all tobacco advertising; Immigration should be drastically limited. While values are implicit in these motions, the emphasis is on the practical reasons for pursuing a particular policy. In general, the affirmative proposes a specific plan which will substantially achieve the goal delineated in the motion and which will do so better than the alternatives. For example, under the first motion, the affirmative may propose a work program dedicated to infrastructure repair. The negative has several options in response: a. they can argue that no change is desirable, i.e., the status quo is sufficient to deal with the problem; b. that the proposed plan is a bad plan, demonstrating that its disadvantages outweigh its advantages; c. that the negative has a better plan for solving the problem (a counterplan)."
The synopsis concludes,
"While evidence in Lincoln-Douglas debate is
philosophical and literary, evidence in policy debate is practical and statistical."
Notice that in ending each exchange after each reignition by JaneyJJJ of her debate, Jan never ends with either "practical or statistical" evidence. His ending to each phase of the debate is with weak retorts, demonstrating his inability to circumnavigate the facts that JaneyJJJ has presented.
The link below contains more information on debating that will demonstrate why J.H. seems to lose almost every single internet debate. Could one expect more from a position resting on a foundation of loosely packed sand? ((G))
