Not anyplace I was associated -- working class congregations in the San Francisco Bay Area. There (from the early '70's to the early '90's) the monthly kickback to the society was never more than $100, usually $50 or less. On the other hand, payments for literature were presented in such snarled and convoluted bookkeeper talk that I never could figure out whether we were in the red or in the black, or which way the money was flowing.
