I was once asked if I thought JW's were "condemned" since some aspects of my JW experience was quite traumatic. I responded by saying, "Not as individuals." You hit the nail on the head. Individual JW's are just like we are, doing what they know how to do the best they can.
If they are deriving some benefit from their association with the Borg, more power to them.
