Tell me Rick, How has he cleaned it up? If anything he has cluttered it up by starting an uproar. If he hadn't messed with posts that the rest of the board felt should stay up, and were really questionable as to whether or not they violated the FPP, then COMF and Doug and them would not have gone on their spree of reposting them every chance they got to prove their point. But M14 couldn't take a hint. So he just deleted them forthright.
Now on this I scream FOUL. True, you and the administrators run this place, true the moderators moderate it, but if it wasnt for the BOARD PARTICIPANTS, there would BE NO NEED for the board OR the moderators. In a case such as this, I say if the board says leave a post up, even if questionable, leave it up.
But to get to my original point, this site has been used to hold some of the most memorable debates and clarifications and revelations of iniquity among many groups of peoples, and to help each other grow by proving some things wrong, some things right, and by answering questions. Now look at the ratio of posts having to do with M14 and those as described above. Which do you have more of?
If new people come in here to see what's going on, and they see nothing but bickering over M14 all the time, and see childish antics, what are they going to think? On the other hand, if we get back to the old fashioned way of H2O, they might think, "Hey, this is pretty cool, I'll see what they have to say." Think about it.
I have known COMF since I first learned of H2O back when I was still in the Society. He has always been mostly fair, but at the same time calling it as he sees it. And he is not afraid to own up to his actions, admit when he is wrong, but also not afraid of what others might have to say of him. That's what I get from him. Now compare that to M14. I'm not trying to be derogatory towards M14, I'm just pointing out that so far we have seen no explanations, no admittance of wrong in cases of wrongful deletion, and further more, no interaction at all anymore. You do the math.
But as to your question as to opening the polls again, well, as I said, without us, this board would be useless, so why not let us exercise our voting ability and choose for ourselves what we want for this board. It's a mutual admiration society. It's your board, so you can do what you want with it. But without us, it's pretty worthless. You give us what we want, a chance to decide for ourselves, and we'll give you what you want, a flourishing site full of the conversations we have grown to love. Your call.
