Here are some more explanations to your questions:

This is sort of embarrassing and I have just come to understand how this works out for the Second Coming. Basically, there would be scenarios of interaction between the Messiah and god's temple organization, the Witnesses. At one point, he would be disfellowshipped on false grounds. In this way he was "killed" symbolically or "pierced" by those representing the organization.
But, as it turned out, some of those who had been directly involved ended up converting over and joining the anointed. It wasn't that hard for them, though, since so much pertinent information about the Messiah's personal life was revealed in scripture, they could more easily accept that he had become the Messiah since they knew him personally. So this again, is "prophetic" that some who had at one time did him injustice would later become part of the bride class. So that is simply in direct fulfillment of some of those who had been directly involved with the Messiah, before he became known to them as the Messiah, when they found out that they had "pierced him" repented and got into the "kingdom of the heavens." So that actually came true.
The other reference to the "nations of the earth" wailing and beating themselves in lamentation, again, refers specifically to the anointed gathered ones who are watching this spectacle of the prodigal son. They are the "eagle-eyed" ones who are surrounding the "corpse": "Where the corpse is, so the eagles will be also."
These eagle-like ones refer to the anointed ones who become aware of the Messiah early on. Of course, they are distressed since he leaves the truth and god and leads a debauched life and is in a death-like state at the time, so they beat themselves in lamentation. Part of that sorrow is because for one, he's out of god's favor, but they also know how painful it is for him to be away from god's love. So it is an extremely painful situation to see the Messiah in this state and at this stage.
Furthermore, this is very painful and the Messiah is being disciplined for this error and he must suffer a lot of pain. But this suffering is ultimately for their good as well since in this way, "he carries their sicknesses." That is, he had to be tested and go through all of this and then overcome it. So in a way, he had a harder burden than most to endure in order to maintain faithfulness to god. But he eventually makes it through all of that and the joy of his return is rewarded with Jesus Christ accepting him and assuming his identity and body in order to appear "in the flesh" in preparation for the 1000-year reign.

The key word here is "in the clouds." That's the secret. The gathering is in secret! The woman runs into the wilderness "out of the sight of the dragon" remember. So there is not going to be a public gathering that would be recognized by anyone.
But there are many ways to "meet" a person indirectly and be with them. As I noted, one way is when a person is performing, or even giving a public discourse. In a way, we spend an hour with someone who is giving an hour talk. He see them, we stare at them, we follow their gestures, we hear their voice, we watch their mannerisms.
I used to tell one of my single aunts who wanted to meet some brother that the best way to check him out without being overly obvious when she visited his congregation, is to find out ahead of time when he would be on the school. That way, she could go to the meeting, very nonchalantly, sit down and then when he gave his assignment, she could check him out and no one would be figuring anything out because you're suppose to stare and pay attention to the speaker on the stage.
Thus, this is like a "gathering in the clouds" because it is partial and indirect.
So basically, after about 1947 perhaps, there was a ressurrection of the dead of the anointed, as well as a "rebirth" of the ancients, such as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Daniel, who likewise would "stand up for their reward during the last day" and become part of the 144,000. So all these persons would be resurrected within a period of time during the last days where they would be still alive when the millennium started, thus, basically, during the last 40-50 years of that generation.
So that happened. It was all done in secret. And they interacted with the Messiah in a clandestined way, indirectly. They got a chance to see, but indirectly. Just before he was anointed and then for sometime later when it was necessary to provide advanced spiritual knowledge regarding the kingdom goings on, there were many secret ways in which they communicated with each other and with the Messiah, but it was always indirect.
I won't give away all my trade secrets to communications, but it would include non-obvious things such as me checking into a specific motel or hotel and then writing instructions and information on various pages in the phone book. In ultimately it was always the time when a new set of phone books would come out. So whoever collected the phone book from my room, got the message. This is when I needed to communicate specifically and directly to them. When they had specific questions, etc.
And other times, the information was thematic and I'd just make about 200-300 fliers and put them on car windshields at various shopping centers. So the few anointed ones who needed the information still remained totally anonymous. And they probably saw me putting on the fliers and got a chance to see me. But there was no direct interaction.
Another thing that happened, for some individuals who were chosen but not rally part of the active movement of the "two witnesses" group, would be brought into contact with me by holy spirit and they would be drawn to notice me, and then after I was gone, they would be told they just saw the Messiah. So that was interesting to see how the holy spirit works. And that meant, for instance, getting on the same bus I was on and being on the bus for a while, sometimes late at night when the bus was fairly empty. So they got a chance to be in the presence of the Messiah for a few precious moments, they got a chance to see him, and I would have left some flier on their seat. Then after that, holy spirit would reveal to them who I was.
Of course, that's because at various times there is some FBI agent on my tail following me around and its too dangerous for them to find out about the anointed ones. So I'm always ducking in here and ducking out there, changing clothes in restrooms, putting on various disguises, etc. so I can have some privacy.
At the same time, the anointed ones are also following me, especially when do research at university libraries. Whatever read or look at or xerox, they check it out. Sometimes if it was sometime really critical I wanted them to see, I'd xerox the pages and pretend they were bad copies and throw them into the trash, etc.
So there are lots of ways you can communicate with people indirectly without others knowing what's going on.
Then, for a few, they got a chance to spend time with me at the cinema. I'd go and see a certain movie and some of them would be in the audience and they could casually be with me, etc. So it was a perfectly casual meeting, but they got a glimpse of the Messiah. So it was great.
This is all part of "meeting in the clouds" of those being gathered. The Messiah does not meet them.
And, of course, though I know you might not believe this, some of those who were alive in Jesus' day did live down to our day. One of those people was the apostle Paul. They must have faked his death in the 1st Century. So there is a whole lot of secret stuff going on, a lot I don't even know about for my own good, since I'm kinda in the open. The privacy of the anointed class, though, is a high priority and it usually preempts everything.
And ultimately, in the modern world, we associate with people via the media. Movies are said to be "bad association" to some extent if they are the wrong kind, as well as books, etc. So via the internet and television on occasion, my image is available to be seen. But also my words. So that the necessary communication between myself and the anointed ones, is quite real and quite effective, but still, "in the clouds." It's not direct.
Thus, I am meeting with these anointed ones, who are resurrected to life, including newly anointed ones as well as those anointed in the 1st century and the ancient faithful men of old, as well as some who from the 1st century have remained alive all these years (doing who knows what, right?). All that is fulfilled now.

If that was the date, then what is 11 Peter 3:10 talking about? "But the day of the Lord will come as
a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements
shall
melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up".
Again, very good question. This is symbolic language.
Remember how when the Messiah comes the "sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light and the powers of the heavens will be shaken."
This addresses the war and enmity in the heavens between Jesus and Satan's angels. This is a time when there would be a rift and many of these angelic sons of god would rebel and join Satan, ultimately being kicked out of heaven and being thrust down to the earth.
This also includes some elements of those considered part of the "heavens" of the unfaithful anointed ones, way, within the organization, who prove unfaithful and become part of the "evil slave" class. So this is what this is talking about. And their exposure by truth, by Jesus, would cause their demise. The intense heat of critical examination and exposure of their false teachings is what causes them to melt and this is prophetic of their demise as far as providing any true light.
As of this time, the governing body has been disfellowhipped from Jehovah's heavenly organization and they are in total spiritual darkness.
They don't know what is happening.
For instance, take the "great tribulation." If you read the bible, you will see it is supposed to be a ONE-TIME event that happenes during the last days just before the Messiah is to appear. Depending upon which Watchtower you read, it either happened in 70CE when Jerusalem was destroyed or it will be "Armageddon." Ask a witness how is it that the "great tribulation" is suppose to precede the Second Coming, and they refuse to answer you. They can't answer it. How can the "great tribulation" be Armageddon if it is suppose to happen even before the son of man appears in the clouds?
So the WTS is in darkness, and those who follow them aren't paying attention to them or the Bible, and it's just a big mess.
So the bottom line is all that is prophesied is done totally IN SECRET with lots of mystery and darkness, even among some of god's anointed ones. So all this has happened, but it is invisible as prophesied. The only way, therefore, you can tell about these things are from the related signs that accompany these events, or by deduction of what's going on within the organization, and most pertinently now, by the chronology.
Most people will MISS the first stage of his coming, because they are not looking for the right thing and also because they are not part of the secret arrangement, which could be some of their own fault for not paying CLOSE ATTENTION.
You MUST be Biblically oriented. You MUST get to the stage of understanding that the witness organization has a special position in all of this, they are the "temple organization" if you will, spiritual israel in a sense, but the visible part of the organization, that is the temple "courtyard".
Much is directly fulfilled by this organization and the Messiah's direct association with this organization. So things are starting out on a very focussed and small scale and then it will branch out from there. You have to understand the scriptures and pay close attention to know what is really happening. Eventually, everyone will know everything I suppose, but depending upon your level of attention, it will make a difference as to whether you are outside or inside god's arrangement when that door closes.
Asking these questions is part of the process getting there.
I hope I have been of some help. I know how bewildering this can be. But have faith. All this means is that the final END of this world as we know it is near and the millennium about to begin! So rejoice! Your deliverance is near!
