The "Bible-based" aspect of shunning is two or three scriptures that have been extrapolated to include much. Remember when they came out in 1983 or so with yet another change in policy about how to treat dfed persons? First they told us not to be too mean to them, citing Jesus' comment on treating them "as a man of the nations", and how Jesus didn't mean like the Jews treated them. They said that being like "a man of the nations" wasn't the same as those referred to in 2John10. Basically two types of dfed persons. Then they said we were being too friendly and stonily "reminded" us that we weren't supposed to talk to dfed persons, citing 2John10, as if it applied to all varieties of dfed persons. There was no explanation of the change, or even a recognition that there had been one. People still didn't get it, so they sent the C.O. around to discuss it in his material. I remember it clearly because I had an extensive and positive discussion with him when he covered that material. That was in 1983. But there was still no recognition that this was a change. So the "Bible based" aspect is sometimes a trumpet with an "indistinct call", a very common experience when dealing with the Society. 1Cor14:8,9 I think they reley so much on sheer authority that they have lost the ability to reason, except with unprepared people or strawmen.
