Janey,
: Either you don't know what you are talking about or you don't know what you are talking
about.
I see. I must have missed your impressive creditentials in history or/and linguistics. Care to enlighten us again?
It is extremely well known that it was the combination of the tetragrammon and the Hebrew word for Lord, adonai, that lead Christians in medieval times to wrongly conclude that God's name was "Jehovah" (Iehovah). When Hebrew scribes added vocal points to the tetragrammon, they added those for "adonai" to remind the readers of these scrolls to say "adonai" out loud. The form "Jehovah" is, as John L. McKenzie noted a "non-word." (John L. McKensey, "Aspects of Old Testament Thought", The New Jerome Biblical Commentary, NJ 1990, p, 1286)
For elaborate details about the recovery of the original form Yahweh, see G.H. Parke-Taylor, Yahweh, Waterloo 1975, and M. Rose, "Jahwe", Theologische Studien 122, Zurich, 1978.
: What about the above is "rubbish"?
Basically, all of it.
: Are you capable of commenting on the specific points or are you just going to give some lame comment that does not tell us anything?
Obviously struck a raw nerve there.
: I am copying into a text file Stafford's comments on this issue, from his book, and then we'll see who is "rubbish." I doubt you will even be able to understand them, as they are no doubt too technical for you to comprehend.
Yeah, sure. I see that in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
And I look forward to your refutation of the above sources. Or perhaps you have to leave that to your king Stafford? If he
has a card at his local university library, that is.
