Hi, Rick:
I'm not sure if this is a question or a guess, but, yes. As Kindred explained, the trip was 10 minutes shorter than usual (i.e., they got home 10 minutes early). That means the trip had to be 5 minutes shorter in each direction; five minutes saved on the way to the station, which also made the return trip 5 minutes shorter. So if she normally picked him up at 4:30 p.m., she would have picked him up 5 minutes sooner this day, and saved 5 minutes again on the return trip to get home 10 minutes early. (Sorry for being so verbose :)
