I had thought that Russell had used the pyramids for some supporting some chronology argument. But I'm not sure on the details.

Is an unprovable and irrelevant statement.
I don't think you can come to agreement among
scholars on what are the exact "teachings of the Bible."
I recognize that the Bible is very clear on many
specific things, but
there are areas where theology is based on collective verses dealing with the topic at hand and that's where the theologians/scholars/Bible-readers come up with dissagrements. For example look at the salvation issue, predestination vs.
free-will, free-election. Also look at the Trinity, or the baptism of Holy Spirit. And the list can go on...
So before the teachings of the Bible become flawless, you have to assert what they are. And that's where the dissagreement begins.
As for the rest of the facts, I'll let others answer them.
