You make a good point when you say you think there are some JWs who aren't so "orthodox" but that is a far more rare. Reason being that the Church does not control the lives of its members.
I personally don't except every particle of teaching from the Church but those I feel strongly about are to be found nowhere else. I don't know about anyone else but that's my reason for staying.
I could tell you have, let's say a somewhat more sympathetic view of Catholics than many not of that faith. It is to your credit that you don't blindly criticize, just acting on the commonly held myths, and that you actually took the time to find out about some of their beliefs.
