I think that "vocal" thing comes from something they inherited from their forebears about
470 years ago,called "SOLA" Scriptura, as well as the notion put forth by Jean Calvin, that
scripture is "perspicuous".
That has caused
an incredible amount of
sectarianism, and today's hardliner fundamentalists do not think this theory through.
