Doug and MK were just making jokes. There is nothing wrong with what they said.
Talking about eating cats is no worse than talking about eating cows.
If you think because cats are pets it is wrong to make such jokes, remember that in some countries people eat dogs.
We eat geese. I had geese as pets when I was a kid.
