I think so too. Otherwise, it needs to be clearly defined what is off-topic so there's no room for personal bias.

Personal experiences and stories are totally on-topic. This is an open forum for people to exchange their ideas. Everybody learns from experiences and a lot of things can be learned by reading others' experiences. It's good to know a little about everybody here.
