I read the entire book of Proverbs through twice several months ago, and I read it with new eyes. There is no way that that book was written by one person. I suspect it was a collection of an oleo of "sayings" that were added together to make that book.
Since I have read the Tao de Ching before I re-read the Proverbs and that Tao was clearly in my mind, I was able to compare the two, unlike ever before.
Proverbs rated a very poor second place in terms of wisdom and inspiration, IMHO.
In fact, some of the Proverbs are quite bland, quite obvious already and quite silly.
