tobor,

: I see an incredible amount of compliance with
whatever the Society demands regardless of logic. Is it possible that this boredom is essential to their success?

Other groups are able to abtain the same result through the opposite :- charismaticism.

If the boredom of JW-meatings serves any purpose, it is in emphasising organization -- the collective --at the cost of the individual. When JWs look to a faceless, monolithic ORGANIZATION instead of a visible leader, it serves a number of purposes.

One is to ensure continuity when some leaders die, and also to avoid any single charismatic leader to obtain control of the organization. Another is that it helps to support the idea that anvisible powers (God, Jesus) are really behind the organization. It also helps the myth that JW leaders do not have direct control of the day-to-day lives of individual JWs, when in fact it's hard to find a religion with so detailed control of member conduct in every minute detail of everyday life.
