I grew up in a Bible church, where we had a Sunday school one hour before the morning worship. The morning worship was only an hour.
Sunday school classes, were of course, geared to children, and the adults had their own class.
When I went to a Christian liberal arts college I was required to take a Bible Survey class. The professor gave us a Bible knowlege exam at the beginning of the year and at the end to test our knowledge and see if we progressed any. I scored very highly at the beginning of the year, which impressed the professor. I would attribute that to years and years of Sunday school, and doubted I would have learned nearly as much had I had to sit through the adult services all the time.
