I don't think that's right about Rick, Jan. My feeling is that he's telling it straight about not having time to deal with H2O very much, and he wants active moderators to try to hold the place to some semblance of the ideal they had in mind when it was founded. Everybody else in the founding group ran off and left Rick holding the bag, since he seems to be the only one with enough personal stamina to see it through.
I figure, since he's busy with other stuff, we are pretty much left to our own devices here, which is why he wants the active moderators to stay active, and therefore why he is so hesitant to say anything to them or against them.
Not knowing the straight poop on the copyright thing, I could understand easily enough. I don't know, myself, what the details of copyright law are, since I've never been in a position to need to know, and it isn't the kind of thing I research for fun. Yeah, Rick's in a position where he needs to know, but maybe he didn't foresee the problem and still hasn't read up on it. I don't know, but he doesn't impress me as dishonest.
