The "new personality" is true in the sense that you do become another person, as you described. I think you are right on when you say this sort of change is not for the better.
You don't think for yourself, you trust no one but the WT and those "strong in the faith" and you're encouraged to "report" any wrong-doings to the elders. The more I came to know about this organization and it's "new personality" required of members the more I became aware of it being a snare and a racket.
A shame so many are mislead,
