Hi Carl,
Thanks for bringing this up from below.
I don't want to belabor this too much, so I'll just make a few comments:
KEEPING THE MONTHS STRAIGHT:
MONTH I: Let's agree that the 9th of Nisan is April 30th and the 1st of Nisan
is April 22.
MONTH II: Basically, then, we are comparing 568BCE with 511BCE, right? Well then, generally speaking, the first of Yyar would be May 22, a month later. Which is it. So I would be comparing May 22, 568BCE with May 22, 511 BCE.
MONTH III: For month three, (Sivan) the 1st of the Month is June 20th. Thus the 5th of the month for both 568BCE and 511BCE would be June 24th, four days later.
You spend a lot of time trying to convince us that the 5th of Sivan (the third month, Simanu) in 511BCE falls on May 26th.
Your statement:
If the 1st of Simanu (Sivan) fell on the 22nd
of May, 511 BC, the 5th of Simanu began in the
evening of May 26, as I pointed out.
My only comment here has nothing to do with the Meton cycle or anything else. It's simply plain obvious logic. And that is if the 1st of Nisan falls on April 22, then the second month would fall around May 22nd, and the third month not until June 22, etc.
So all your arguing about how May 22nd is the 1st of Sivan in 511BCE means nothing if you've already decided that the 1st of Nisan falls on April 22, just a month earlier.
So, Carl, you have to make up your mind. The fact is that April 22 is the 1st of Nisan in 568BCE, May 22nd is the 1st of Yyar in 568BCE and June 20th is the 1st of Simanu in 568BCE. Thus the appropriate month to compare for Sivan in 511BCE would be the same as in 568BCE which is what you did for month I by comparing May 29/30 in both 568 and 511BCE.
Do you see how you're skipping a month here?
Now I don't mind debating whether or not the months in 511BCE were behind those of 568BCE. But you can't compare the same dates in Nisan and not compare the same dates in Sivan. You have to keep the months even. And this has nothing to do with the Meton cycle whatsoever. This has to do with your accepting that Nisan in 511BCE began on April 22 which means Simanu 1 would fall on June 20th, the same for 568BCE as 511BCE.
Having said that, I trust you'll forgive me if I don't address your arguments regarding the dating of Simanu in 511BCE in May...
Again, Carl, it doesn't make since to date the first of Nisan, the first month, in 511BCE, on April 22 and then claim that 30 days later on May 22 it suddenly is the third month, Simanu. You have a contradiction.
I'll allow you to retract that assessment and revise you argument if you with. Otherwise, there is no need to comment on that issue.
THE 29TH ISSUE:
It is possible, based upon Universal time, not to change the local date and so I have prepared a comparison using universal time dating which
will not alter the date from the 29th to the 30th.
See further post.
Cheers,
Gary
